With the rapid development of the process industry in China, more and more large-scale chemical projects, such as million tons of ethylene, million tons of oil refining, gigawatt thermal power, and the West to East Gas Transmission, have been implemented. High speed heavy load torsion machinery and equipment welcome a grand challenge. Torsion machinery often vibrates in the dynamic process. Vibration is often the source of various mechanical equipment problems and disturbances. Vibration leads to decreased equipment mission effectiveness, increased friction consumption, and intense noise, reducing the stability of system components.

Most rotor bearing systems of large torsional machinery use sliding bearings as supporting components. The smooth oil film of sliding bearings can bear large external forces. At the same time, because of the damping function to reduce vibration, sliding bearings are widely used in various dynamic machinery. The sliding bearing has many advantages over the rotary bearing, such as bumpy, reliable operation and low noise. When ensuring that the sliding bearing is full of fluid and smooth, the surface of the dynamic shaft and the surface of the bearing pad are not directly contacted due to the presence of smooth oil, and the overall friction power consumption and bearing pad wear of the unit are greatly reduced. In addition, the higher stability of the rotor supported by the sliding bearing is due to the absorption and dissipation of vibration energy by the viscous inertia of the bearing oil film, which also improves the operating accuracy of the unit.

The frequently used sliding bearings can be divided into radial, thrust and radial thrust combined bearings according to the force bearing mode. Because the task conditions and the rotation speed of the task load are different, the smooth medium used by the bearing is also different. The liquid, solid, gas and grease smooth bearings have their own application scope. Liquid smooth bearings are widely used in turbine machinery. Water, smooth oil, magnetic fluid and other media can be used as bearing smoothing agents. As the key component of sliding bearing, the material of bearing pad has a great influence on the function of bearing. Alloy and elastic materials can be used as the material of bearing pad. At the same time, the bearing pad can also swing and be fixed, which can be identified as tilting pad bearing and fixed pad bearing. Smooth oil film support methods include dynamic pressure and static pressure, and dynamic pressure mixing is often adopted for bearings with large load.
